Retail Community Pharmacist

PharmServ has a Full-time Staff Pharmacist opportunity with a respected independent community pharmacy 30 miles north of Clarinda, IA. This is a place where pharmacists know their patients by name and care goes beyond prescriptions—it’s personal, patient-centered, and trusted. (Assistant Manager opportunity also available, if desired)

The pharmacy is owned by the local hospital and operates in close collaboration with it. The pharmacy team is made up of multiple pharmacists and eight dedicated pharmacy technicians and staff, creating an environment where teamwork is central to daily operations.

Prescription volume averages approximately 300 per day, with peaks reaching up to 500 prescriptions on Mondays and Fridays, making it a fast-paced work environment. The pharmacy utilizes ScriptPro software and manages a growing 340B program. The pharmacy culture emphasizes familiarity, accessibility, and convenience for patients. The ideal candidate is service-minded, solution-focused focused and a team player.

Compensation for this Position:  

• Wage – $64 – $72 per hour (Negotiable) 
• Relocation – Up to $10,000

Responsibility and Skills:

 

• Provide prompt and professional customer service and answer calls.
• Fill and verify prescriptions and counsel patients per OBRA ’90 regulations.
• Manage inventory, including ordering, stocking, and controlled substance counts.
• Reconcile accounts, follow regulatory procedures, and oversee the pharmacy when the manager is absent.
• Coach, train, and communicate with staff as needed.
• Operate the register and process transactions.
• Administer immunizations safely and accurately.
• Research and verify medication and patient information.
• Maintain accurate records and follow all state, federal, and insurance regulations

Schedule:  

• Mon – Fri: 8:30a – 6p 
• Sat: 8:30a – 1p 
• Sun: Closed 
• Closed for Federal Holidays 
• 8hr – 10hr shifts 
• 4 days on, 3 days off 
• Work every other Saturday until fully staffed. 
    

Required Qualifications:  

• A Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) or Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.S. Pharm.) degree from an accredited institution 
• Valid, active pharmacist license in Iowa in good standing with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy 
• Immunization Administration Certification 
• BCLS certification 

  

Preferred Qualifications:  

• Familiarity with ScriptPro software 
• Experience in Hospital/Clinical setting
