Out Patient Pharmacist

PharmServ has a Direct - Hire opportunity with a clinical pharmacy 12 miles North of Des Moines, IA. The pharmacy is closely connected to a local medical practice. They blend traditional retail care with clinical pharmacy services. Pharmacists in this role will join a committed, well-trained staff who support the flow of prescriptions, patient consultations, and everyday operations.

Compensation for this Position:  

• Wage – Up to $65/hr 
• PTO – Determined by client policy 

Facility Duties and Expectations:  

• Verify and dispense prescriptions accurately, reviewing medication orders for safety, interactions, and appropriateness. 
• Provide counseling and guidance to patients and families on medication use, side effects, and adherence strategies. 
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to clarify orders and optimize drug therapy. 
• Conduct medication therapy management (MTM) and document interventions to support patient outcomes. 
• Manage and oversee pharmacy technician activities, including audits, order entry, and unit inspections. 
• Maintain accurate patient profiles, controlled substance records, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. 
• Participate in pharmacy quality management initiatives and support experiential education for pharmacy students. 
• Administer vaccines following certification and document appropriately. 
• Maintain adequate inventory of medications and supplies, including compounding and preparation as needed. 
• Accurately bill prescription claims to third-party payers and complete related documentation. 

Hours of Operation:  

• Monday – Friday: 8a – 4:30p 
• Saturday – Sunday: Closed 

Required Qualifications:  

• A Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) or Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.S. Pharm.) degree from an accredited institution 
• Valid, active pharmacist license in Iowa in good standing with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy 
• BCLS certification 
• Mandatory Reporter Certification for child and dependent adult 

Preferred Qualifications:  

• Successful completion of ASHP-accredited PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency or 3 years of ambulatory pharmacy experience.
